Facial Aesthetics Wyke

Wrinkles, whether they’re laughter lines, frown lines, or crow’s feet, are a natural part of aging. While harmless, many people seek to reduce or prevent them for cosmetic reasons. At Bradford Dental Clinic, we offer various facial aesthetic treatments to help you achieve your desired look.

Botulinum Toxin Injections

Botulinum toxin injections are effective for reducing wrinkles caused by facial expressions, such as forehead lines and crow’s feet. They work by relaxing or paralyzing specific muscles to reduce active wrinkles. The treatment typically takes effect in 1-5 days, with full results after 1-2 weeks, lasting 3-6 months.

However, botulinum toxin cannot treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and isn’t suitable for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have certain neurological conditions. Regular treatments are needed to maintain the effects.

Dermal Filler Injections

Dermal fillers are used to plump and smooth the skin, reducing lines around the chin and lips, and enhancing lip shape. There are various types of fillers, both temporary and permanent. However, temporary fillers are more commonly recommended, as permanent fillers don’t adapt to changes as you age.

Temporary fillers can be synthetic or made from materials that resemble natural acids in your body. A tiny needle is used to inject the filler into the desired area. Results typically last from 3 to 18 months, depending on the type of filler and treatment area, with repeat treatments required to maintain effects.

Skin Creams and Gels

While many creams claim to reduce fine lines, they can’t completely remove wrinkles. Creams and gels with retinoids (a form of vitamin A) can help by tightening the skin, making fine lines less noticeable. Some retinoid creams are available over-the-counter, while stronger ones require a prescription.

However, retinoid creams can have side effects, such as skin irritation and increased sun sensitivity. Always follow the instructions and consult your pharmacist or doctor if needed.

Antioxidant creams containing vitamins C, B, and E may also help by protecting your skin from damage caused by the sun, stress, and pollution.
